Great Minds ‘Gather’ in Firepit-inspired Design Space at East & Sleep

Sleep & Eat unveiled its 2019 VIP Lounge in partnership with Russian hospitality design firm, Megre Interiors – the first time an international designer has curated the exclusive space.

Celebrating this year’s event theme of ‘Social FlexAbility’, Yuna Megre, Founder and Principal of Megre Interiors, envisioned a unique design concept for the event, featuring an immersive experience aimed at bringing together both creative and business minds.

The Olympia Club Room in London was transformed into a whimsical, flora-inspired experience, titled ‘Gather’.

The space was created to be free of rigidity and direction, encouraging authenticity and natural movement. The centrepiece comprised a large-scale, firepit-inspired light installation surrounded by circular seating.

Megre Interiors collaborated with Sahco, a high-end fabric manufacturer for a specially designed print, which cascades onto the floor and engulfs everything in sight. Applelec was chosen as the source for acrylic LED light sheet panels for the light installation.

“The soul is a boundless wilderness that blossoms fully only when we meaningfully connect,” explains Megre of her vision. “In an age marked by the impersonal, it’s vital to trust people over brands. To meet, to see, to know each other, and embark on the adventure of creation together.

“Although we’re living in a time where we have the ability to share more than ever before, our attention spans have become shorter and we’re actually a lot lonelier. Designers have the tools and the responsibility to encourage personal connections – I’m always looking to strip back any unnecessary complexities.”
